5/12 X 54 Robusto Gordo
Nicaraguan Puro
Wrapper: Cafe Rosado Oscuro Wrapper
$10.00

This and its counter part the Lado Occidental Verocu No. 1 were some of the earliest of the limited cigars by Pete Johnson.  Released in 2007, the year after the launch of his Havana VI (more popularly ‘red label’) line of smokes and the precursor to the Verocu Tubos that we have talked about before.  I just got his stick this week via a purchase on a forum and was struck by the beauty of the Cafe Rosado Oscuro wrapper.  I was not able to find much info on this leaf, but I can say it was strikingly pretty.   This was blended to be an amped up version of the red label with more ligero.  Although the strength must have mellowed out you can definitely still taste the ligero sweetness and the earthiness that you would expect from a Nicaraguan cigar.  The burn was a little honky, but that is probably a result of my impatience.  But the flavors were still there, so if you can find one try it.  This was a fun cigar to try.
