At the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas, Altadis USA showcased the VegaFina Sumum Edición Especial 2012 cigar. This is a cigar that has already previously been released in Europe, and now makes its way to the U.S. market. The Sumum 2012 has a similar blend composition to the VegaFina Sumum Edicion Especial 2010 – which was released last year, but comes in a larger ring gauge. I believe the tobaccos are from a different crop.

The flavors to the Sumum 2012 are similar to the Sumum 2010. It delivers notes of pepper, wood, and lemon sweetness. The flavors are in the medium/medium to full range. I did feel the Sumum 2012 was a medium strength cigar – which actually was stronger than the mild to medium Sumum 2010.

Overall, I still felt there were more flavor nuances with the Sumum 2010, but the Sumum 2012 does have a little more kick and should satisfy cigar enthusiasts who thought the 2010 was too mild.
