This is the brand that started it all for Don Pepin Garcia and My Father Cigars. It is commonly called the “Blue Label” because of its blue colored band. This cigar originally game from Garcia’s company, El Rey de los Habanos company. It was originally made at the factory in Miami bearing that company’s name and then production was shifted to Tabacalera Cubanas S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua. This cigar recently had some packaging changes including a footer ribbon and a secondary band.

This cigar has a very woody profile with a good amount of pepper. There are also some chocolate and orange peel notes that emerge. The retro-hale starts out as a citrus spice before transitioning to more of a classic pepper. The DPG Blue is underrated when it comes to strength and body as I assessed both of these attributes full. The burn and draw were both excellent.

For a cigar that has been sold for ten years, this stands the test of time. It’s always a cigar I like to keep around, so its worth a box split in my book.
