An in-depth assessment of the Kristoff Galerones was done on Cigar Coop.

The Kristoff Galerones DR4 is one of four new blends making up the Kristoff Galerones series. The Galerones line is not just a set of new cigars, but it marks a radical change in direction for the products being released by Kristoff. The Galerones line feature more sleek packaging, and incorporates tobaccos Kristoff has not previously used. In addition, company President Glen Case is working with a new factory – Abe Flores’ PDR Cigars factory in the Dominican Republic.

I found the DR4 to deliver a lot of classic Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade flavors as I picked up notes of cream, black pepper, wood, and nut. The differentiating factors were twofold: First, the DR4 delivers a subtle raw honey sweetness. Second, the retro-hale (after taking a little while to get going) has a nice nutty spice. The flavors start out medium-bodied and in the last third move into the medium to full-bodied range. This cigar will have a little more strength than most Ecuadorian Connecticut cigars as it was medium. I am curious if aging will significantly mellow both of these attributes. The burn and draw were both excellent.

This is a nice addition to Case’s portfolio. The price point is a little high, but this could be a nice Ecuadorian Connecticut shade cigar to have around and share.
