This cigar was recently assessed in-depth on Cigar Coop.

Da Byrdman is the 11th (November) installment of the Ortega Wild Bunch 2013. It is a cigar named for Ashley Byrd, who is a cigar enthusiast in the Washington DC area. It is the second Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper cigar in the series.

Da Byrdman provides notes of floral spice, coffee, cocoa, earth, and tea notes. There also was a bit of a salty component early on. The retro-hale had a nice herbal spice to it. The strength and body of this cigar is medium to full.

The other Connecticut Broadleaf cigar was the Dandy McCoy. That was a cigar that after six months got better with age. I wouldn’t say that Da Byrdman is a young cigar, but I do think there is some aging potential that is still to be realized with this cigar. Right now, it’s a solid cigar, but not up there with Dandy McCoy or the 601 Blue Label (a cigar Ortega released when he was at EO Brands). Right now this cigar is a try one and see.
