Cigar Coop Review: Fratello H-Town Lancero
Show Video: Episode 132

Earlier this year, Fratello Cigars announced their first shop exclusive cigar. The cigar would be a limited production lancero modified off the Fratello Cigars’ core line blend. The recipient of this cigar was Stogies World Class Cigars in Houston, Texas which incorporated the Fratello lancero into its H-Town line. The H-Town line is a series of lancero shop exclusives to Stogies World Class. The Fratello H-Town Lancero would become the third installment of this series joining the Room 101 Namakubi Ecuador H-Town and Alec Bradley Nica Puro H-Town. Company owner Omar de Frias discussed this project on Episode 124 of Stogie Geeks.

De Frias said he had to take out the ligero and Nicaraguan tobaccos to get the tobaccos to fit into the small ring gauge and get a good burn. The result is an nearly all Peruvian filler. It also produced the most dialed back Fratello offering to date.

This cigar is going to produce some trademark sweet cedar notes, but won’t have the creamy finish found on the regular line. There is a very interesting flavor – almost an evergreen note. It’s an interesting flavor, but not one that really had me doing handstands. The flavors are medium-bodied. The strength starts out mild to medium before progressing to medium.

Overall, it’s an interesting cigar, but definitely falls short of the regular production line and the new Boxer offering. It’s worth a fiver and makes a good change of pace cigar.
