The Griffin’s Special Edition XXV was the 2009 release of this annual limited release by The Griffin’s (a Davidoff blend) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the brand. 25 cigars were packaged in ceramic jars. Only 3500 jars were released.
Like Paul’s review, I liked the first half better than the second half. The cigar starts off with notes of black pepper, cedar, grass, and hay. Some notes of cream and natural tobacco enter the equation. The cigar has a lot of classic Davidoff-esque qualities. In the second half, I think the cigar got a little harsher and lost a little age.
I was also surprised this cigar had some strength and body. This cigar starts out medium and moves to medium to full for both attributes.
The construction was very good. While the ash started tight, it got flaky in the second half.
