The Casa Trompeta Nicaragua Toro is not a cigar you are going to find out your local shop. It was made by a gentleman named Michael Stewart out of Illinois. Stewart has taken his cigar hobby to a different level by sourcing tobacco components to blend and roll his own cigars. The name stems from Stewart’s love of music. Stewart recently appeared on the Half Ashed podcast and discussed this project.
Stewart sent me a sample of this cigar. The cigar had a nice mix of cocoa, natural tobacco, earth and pepper – a definitely “Nicaraguan” flair to it. The strength and body were both in the medium to full range. Overall a good cigar. The only shortcoming was that the cigar got warmer than I liked in the final stages.
Given this is not a cigar for sale, I opted for a No Rating on this cigar, but it is one I would smoke again.
