This cigar was recently assessed in detail on Cigar Coop.

A couple of weeks ago we took a look at a cigar called the Leaf and Bean by Esteban – a cigar being made at the Nica Sueno factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. This is a part of retailer Jim Robinson’s Leaf and Bean series. Today we look at another cigar in the line, the Leaf by Oscar Maduro. This is one of four Leaf by Oscar cigars (the others being a Connecticut, Corojo, and Sumatra). This cigar is made in Honduras by Oscar Valladares.

The packaging is the big story with this cigar. Each of the Leaf by Oscar cigars are encased in a tobacco leaf as opposed to cellophane. Here is a look at the packaging:

While there is some cool packaging on this, the cigar smokes wonderfully. This is an excellent maduro. It has notes of mocha, earth, and pepper. There also was a nice honey sweetness to this cigar – something I don’t normally get on a maduro. The strength and body start out medium and progress to medium to full. Construction was excellent.

Like the Leaf and Bean by Esteban, this band is made from the same plant that is used to make Tequila.

This cigar is definitely worth of a box split.
