Wrapper: Dominican Yamasá
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
Robusto: 5 1/2 x 52
Price: $21.95
This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.
This is the second year in a row that Davidoff has released a cigar to recipients of the Golden Band Awards. While it is unclear if the blend has changed from last year, the size was reduced in both length and ring gauge. The cigar uses wrapper from the Yamasá region of the Dominican Republic. Over the past year, several limited editions from Davidoff have used wrapper from this region including: Davidoff 2014 Year of the Horse the Davidoff of Geneva 25th Anniversary, Davidoff Madison Avenue 25th Anniversary, Davidoff Masters Edition 2013 Club House Toro, the upcoming Avo Limited Edition 2014 cigar, and the Davidoff Golden Band Awards 2012
When compared to the 2012 edition. the flavor profile does have some parallels in terms of many of the notes delivered. It delivers notes of grass, black pepper, and natural tobacco flavors. Not an overly complex cigar, but very flavorful. There was a little more strength and body than the 2012 edition, but this could be because the 2012 had.
The burn was a little more higher maintenance than I prefer as it had multiple touch-ups. Still this cigar was good and easily worth a fiver.
