This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.
At the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show, A.J. Fernandez Cigars launched a new line called the New World. This line is a box-pressed Nicaraguan puro and is significant for two reasons. First up, this is intended to be value priced line in the $6.00 – $7.00 range. Secondly, it is the first cigar at A.J. Fernandez Cigars that A.J. has done with his father Ismael.
This cigar delivered some outstanding notes of dark chocolate, earth, pepper, and a nice maduro sweetness. The chocolate is more present at the beginning. The maduro sweetness takes center stage during the middle third. Toward the end, there was a ramp-up with the pepper. The flavors start out medium to full-bodied and progress to full-bodied by the end. They are countered with medium to full strength. The construction was excellent and this was reflected in the draw.
Overall, a home run and great value cigar. This should prove to be a monster hit for A.J. Fernandez. It is a box worthy cigar all the way.
