Wrapper: Ecuadorian
Binder: Dominican
Filler: A blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican-grown Cuban seed tobaccos.
Senator: 6 x 56
Price: $10.00
The Nat Sherman Epoca will re-launch what was the first cigar brand owned by Nat Sherman upon his acquisition of the New York-based cigar company Schwab Brothers and Baer in 1929. Originally a Cuban blend, this is now being made in the Dominican Republic and features Dominican and Niacragun tobacco wrapped with an Ecuadorian wrapper.
I’m guessing Nat Sherman sought to recreate something along the lines of the original Epoca, but something that would be more geared to toward today’s market. This cigar delivers notes of wood and cream. It has a baker’s spice as well as some flavors of fruit. While the sweetness doesn’t overpower, the entire flavor profile I found the flavors as a whole to have some depth to them – medium bodied progressing to medium to full-bodied by the end. The strength is mostly medium, but that kicks up as well to medium to full.
There is a little dryness on the pallet with this cigar, but all in all its a good cigar. This size is worthy of a fiver and some of the other sizes are worth going higher.
