This cigar was assessed in detail on Cigar Coop.

At the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show, Casa Fernandez introduced its Aganorsa Leaf Maduro line. It was introduced in two large ring gauge box-press sizes. This past month, Casa Fernandez added a third vitola in the form of a 5 x 48.

While I did struggle with burn issues on some of the larger sizes, the Illustre performed very well here. It delivered a nice flavor profile of chocolate, earth, pepper, and some cherry sweetness. It was not the most complex maduro I’ve had, but it was flavorful. The flavors are very robust and I assessed them as full-bodied. There is some pop to this little cigar as I assessed it as medium to full in strength.

I’ve been on the record many times saying that Casa Fernandez is a market leader when it comes to working with the San Andres wrapper. The Illustre solidifies my thoughts on this. It does carry a higher price point for a short smoke, but its worth it.
