We covered the Gurkha 125th Anniversary Special Edition Honduran Corojo as a part of Cigar Coop’s 2013 IPCPR Coverage.

At the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gurkha Cigar announced three special limited edition versions of its 125th Anniversary series. This includedConnecticut Broadleaf, Ecuadorian Connecticut, and Honduran Corojo wrapper versions of the 125th Anniversary blend. It was only produced in a 6 x 52 toro for each size with only 1000 boxes of 18 produced of each size.

The flavors of the Gurkha 125th Anniversary Special Edition Honduran Corojo consisted of exotic spice, corojo sweetness, leather, and earth. It took a little while to get a good retro-hale on this cigar. I assessed the flavors starting out as mild to medium, but by the end of the cigar they are medium to full. The strength is right in the middle of the spectrum at medium.

The burn performed admirably. While the draw was not loose, this cigar still produced a ton of smoke.

I thought this version had some good flavors. It lost a little steam on the back nine and got a little more ordinary with a lot of leather and earth notes. I do think the core 125th version still is a better smoke flavor-wise and complexity-wise. Overall I have this one still worthy as a “Try One”.
