Wrapper: Nicaraguan Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
No. 46: 5 1/2 x 56
Price: $26.10
The Padrón Family Reserve 46 Years series was introduced in 2010 and became the third installment of Padrón’s Family Reserve line. This line features 10 year old tobacco that was once used as a private Padrón blend. For the 46 year edition, a 5 1/2 x 56 soft-box press was introduced in both natural and maduro. I’ll focus on the maduro version here.
This cigar sometimes is the ugly stepchild of the Family Reserve series, but I think it holds its own. There are notes of cocoa, chocolate, cherry, cream, nut, and pepper that deliver a complex smoke. The only negative with this one is I did get some harshness at the very end. The flavors are full-bodied countered by medium to full strength. Construction is Padrón-like – stellar.
Definitely a box worthy cigar, and one of the Family Reserve cigars I look forward to revisiting again.
