This cigar made history today as it was named the #2 Cigar of the Year for 2013 by Cigar Aficionado. it also finished as the #1 non Cuban Cigar of 2013. I decided to revisit this cigar in the 7 x 50 Churchill vitola – which was the size that received the honor.

The Aging Room Quattro F55 has two distinguishing characteristics. First up, it is the first box-press to be added to the Aging Room Cigars family. Second up, it is the Sumatra wrapper which is a special tobacco incorporated by Aging Room Cigars. The story behind this wrapper is that Nodal was able to acquire it from a machine-made cigar factory going out of business in Europe. The F55 stands for Friday the 55th day of the year – the date the cigar was blended.

The cigar delivers notes of natural tobacco sweetness, coffee, pepper, and cream. In the second half a graham cracker note emerged in the background. The back nine was more woody and peppery. Overall I found this to be a medium to full strength, medium to full-bodied smoke with excellent construction.

This is a very good cigar. It certainly ranks as one of the better cigars in the Aging Room line. I’ll leave it up to the individual if this is worthy of a #2 cigar, but in my book its definitely worth a box split.
