A pre-release review was done on Cigar Coop.

The Leccia Luchador is the third release by Sam Leccia’s Leccia Tobacco. The cigar is a tribute to Mexican wrestlers. The cigar also has a Mexican theme in that it features a San Andres Maduro wrapper and it is planned for a launch on Cinco de Mayo.

Leccia is known for his bold smokes from his days with Cain, but his first two releases (Leccia Black, Leccia White) were a bit of a departure from this one. For the Luchador, Leccia goes back to his roots.

The cigar starts out with notes of white pepper, earth, and mocha. There is more in the way of sweetness in the first half. There also is a slight mineral note. The press release for this cigar mentioned how it went from “Zero to 60” in terms of transitioning from sweetness to spice and I couldn’t agree more. The spice completely ramps up in the second half. The pepper did have a some of the pungency I have gotten from a San Andres wrapper. At the same time, I still was able to detect the earth and chocolate notes in the background.

The strength of this cigar kicks up as well as it goes from medium to full to full strength in the second half. The body also follows suit.

This is still a better San Andres release – and it is a nice release by Leccia Tobacco. I look forward to smoking this again. Since this is pre-release, I declined for a final rating at this time.
