This cigar was recently assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.

This is an event only cigar offered by Cubanacan Cigars. Cubanacan Cigars is a company on the rise. The company is owned by the Mederos family. The Mederos family has Cuban roots and actually has been involved with rolling cigars since the early 19th century. This is a vertically integrated company. Not only does the company own its own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, but they are also involved with the growing of tobacco. The company owns its own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

There are several brands under the Cubanacan Umbrella, one of which is called the Cubanacan Habano. While the blend components of the Special Edition Event Cigar appear the same, this is a totally different blend – and it shows in the cigar. The Cubanacan Event cigar delivers plenty of complexity as I detected notes of nut, cocoa, natural tobacco, baker’s spice, and pepper. There are plenty of flavor transitions along the way. The flavors are medium to full and countered by medium to full strength.

This perfecto has some great construction. The burn and draw were flawless and easily can fend off Paul Syndrome. This burn really required little maintenance. I also think the tapering by the cap was key as it made this cigar smoke more like a large toro as opposed to a 6 x 60.

This is an amazing cigar. The cigar is packaged in boxes of 5, but if it were 20 count boxes I’d still get it – event or not. Box Worthy.
