We talk about this blend a lot, so I wanted to present some more information for our readers and listeners:

The Davidoff Colorado Claro was originally released in 2002 in very limited quantities. It was re-released in 2009 and again last month. Four sizes are currently available and include; Double R (7 1/2 x 50), Special R (4 7/8 x 50), Special T (6 x 50), and the Short Perfecto (4 7/8 x 52).

Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican

Vitolas Available (Prices are approximately what you’d expect to pay either online or at a B&M per stick, all boxes of 10):

Anniversario No. 3: 6 x 50 – $20.00
Double R: 7 1/2 x 50 – $28.00
Short Perfecto: 4 7/8 x 52 – $15.00
Special R: 4 7/8 x 50 – $16.00
Special T: 6 x 52 (Pyramid) – $19.00

The Colorado Claro begins with an Ecuadorian Connecticut seed that has been Sun-grown, and gives off a wonderful color of red clay that I see frequently in my state of North Carolina! The wrapper is really similar to a wrapper you would see on some cigar coming out of Cuba these days, and it is a beautiful coloring indeed. The yield on the Colorado Claro wrappers are very limited, and that is what makes this cigar so limited to produce. Underneath the rare and limited wrapper is Dominican fillers and binder leaves, that have been aged for sometime, and are also of the highest quality.

Seth’s Humidor Review

According to Stogie Guys, this was released in 2002:

The Davidoff Colorado Claro is a limited edition line using the same blend as the Davidoff Special, but featuring a darker, richer “Colorado Claro” wrapper. While it was originally released way back in 2002, it hasn’t since been available until its re-introduction in late 2009.

Stogie Guys Review (This is the review that prompted me to start buying and stocking these cigars in my humidor).

They also state its a Davidoff Special series, with the Colorado Claro wrapper on it. By the way, the old batch from 2002 was Oasis in my book hands down. Newer ones, only due to lack of age, are pretty much all fight chuck norris for em’. Milage varies on size, and the two sizes I would stick with are the Special T and the Short Perfecto. A close second is the robusto (Special R). I never much cared for the Double R and have not yet smoked the Anniversario #3 that was released last year at IPCPR.
