The Viaje Cache is a new line introduced by Viaje Cigars in 2014. While the cigar was showcased at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show. It is a new maduro and it is one of two projects Viaje has produced at the TABSA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
From initially opening a box of the Viaje Cache, it reveals parejo-shaped robusto cigars, however there is one catch. While it was announced, Viaje had mentioned there was a hidden compartment in the packaging where a “surprise awaits”. The surprise turned out to be a box-pressed version of this new cigar packaged with the rounded cigars.
The Cache Box-Press produces notes of earth, chocolate, and white pepper. The chocolate flavors aren’t overly sweet, yet there is a smoothness this cigar had. I also picked up a slight metallic note – which I think helped give this cigar a different quality.
In 2014 Andre Farkas and Viaje have been producing some cigars a little more dialed back than in previous years. The Cache Box-Press is a medium strength, medium to full-bodied cigar. The construction was excellent from a burn and draw standpoint.
Originally, I smoked the rounded version of the Cache – which also is an excellent cigar. It was when I smoked the box-press that I really felt helped this blend shine. This cigar is box worthy in my book.
