This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.

This cigar was talked about quite a bit on Stogie Geeks, now it was my turn to see what this was all about.

Just prior to the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show, Nat Sherman announced the Joel Sherman 75th Celebration cigar. This is named for Joel Sherman, the son of company founder Nat Sherman who serves as President and CEO Nat Sherman. The cigar commemorates Sherman’s 75th birthday. The cigar is significant because it is the company’s first limited edition since Vice President of Retail and Brand Development Michael Herklots came on board three years ago.

The flavors are nothing short of amazing. The pre-light draw didn’t have me doing handstands, but once I lit this up, I knew I was smoking something special. This cigar provides a great mix of sweetness and spice. The flavors include orange cream, cedar, pepper, honey, and baker’s spice. Early on the cigar exhibits a wonderful orange cream sweetness. In the second third this makes a transition to a honey-like sweetness. Toward the later part the assorted spices of pepper, cedar, and baker’s spice play a role.

This cigar is a medium strength, medium to full-bodied cigar. The construction was impeccable. Once I lit the cigar, it required very few touch-ups. The draw had a touch of resistance, yet produced plenty of smoke.

This cigar is worthy of receiving only my second Oasis rating for a 2014 release. A candidate for Cigar of the Year for sure.
