This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop. This is a pre-release cigar provided by Illusione at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show.

The Illusione ~eccj~ was originally created to commemorate European Cult Cigar Journal’s 15th anniversary. This blend became the basis for Illusione’s Epernay line – which grew to 10 sizes. Now for the 20th anniversary of Cigar Journal (the publication’s new name), brand owner Dion Giolito brings back the ~eccj~ in a slightly larger format than the original Corona Gorda – and a tweaked blend.

With the ~eccj~ 20th I found highly complex blend of natural tobacco, champagne-like sweetness, white pepper, nut, and cream. One thing I liked about the ~eccj~ 20th is how it had a little more strength and body than the Epernay line. The medium-bodied flavors worked with this line – countered by mild to medium strength that progresses to medium in the later stages. The construction of this cigar is outstanding.

While I’m hesitant to officially rate a pre-release, this cigar has all of the makings of a winner – and could easily be box-worthy.
