We did a pre-release assessment of this cigar on Cigar Coop.

The 601 La Bomba Maduro Warhead is a special limited edition cigar introduced by Espinosa Cigars and was launched at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show. For this cigar, Erik Espinosa took the powerful 601 La Bomba blend and replaced the Habano wrapper with a Connecticut Broadleaf. He then created a box-pressed toro and this blend was born. The cigar is being limited to 2000 boxes of ten.

This cigar might now be at the top of the 601 line in my book. This cigar delivers notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, black pepper, and some citrus. The chocolate and citrus give this cigar some nice sweetness which balances nicely with the pepper spice and the coffee notes. I noticed since I smoked the pre-release sample that this cigar is now less acidic. It seems to be reaching its “sweet spot”.

True to the La Bomba name, this cigar is a powerhouse. It is full strength and full-bodied. Construction is excellent and it burns and draws like a champ. This is truly a box worthy cigar in my book.

A side note. The footer band has a unique design in the form of a bomb reminiscent of aircraft graffiti during World War II.
