Wrapper: Connecticut Corojo
Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
Filler: Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican (Piloto Cubano)
Robusto: 5 x 50 (soft press)
Price: $5.29
The Punch Rare Corojo series is released once a year. In 2011, a new blend of the Punch Rare Corojo was introduced. This uses a proprietary Connecticut Corojo wrapper. What is significant is that the regular Rare Corojo series actually does not use a Corojo wrapper – it uses Ecuadorian Sumatra.
This cigar is from the original batch from 2011. In my opinion this cigar is really smoking well. It isn’t the most complex smoke, but it delivers flavors of berry sweetness baker’s spice, and some pepper. The flavors are medium to full-bodied and the strength is medium.
I thought this was an average cigar when it came out, but time has been kind to this blend. It’s definitely worth a box split if you are willing to give this cigar some aging time.
