This cigar was reviewed in depth on Cigar Coop.
The Señorial by José Blanco is the debut release by Blanco’s new company, Las Cumbres Tabaco. After a two year stint in Nicaragua at Joya de Nicaragua, Blanco returned the Dominican Republic and formed his own company. For this first project, Blanco stayed in the family as he is collaborating with his cousin Jochi Blanco – leveraging the latter’s Tabacalera Palma factory and tobacco inventory.
After a start of some black pepper, notes of nut, natural tobacco and raisin sweetness take center stage early. The raisin notes are primary flavors in the first third providing sweetness. In the second third, there is more of a grainy flavor profile with the sweetness dialed back. By the last third, the spice increases but doesn’t overwhelm.
Blanco said this is the strongest cigar he has blended. While he is not known for nicotine bombs, I still found this cigar to be medium to full in strength. There is no shortage of the flavors as they are full-bodied. The construction was excellent.
In a year where there hasn’t many blockbuster core lines, I found the Señorial to be solid. It’s not your cookie cutter cigar and it delivers. I put it as box worthy
