This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.
Visually looking at the presentation to this cigar,it looks like the follow-up to the Flor de las Antillas. Given the incredible success of that cigar, the packaging angle makes a lot of sense. I’ve been told this is a “Flor de las Antillas on steroids”. While it’s a fuller and strong smoke, it is very different.
What I will say. This is a cigar that needs to be smoked a few times. Each time smoked, you will pick up something different. I found this cigar has some transitions. Early on it’s more of a mix of black cherry sweetness, coffee, and pepper. The second third sees the sweetness get more subtle and it develops a grainy profile that works well. The last third sees an increase in spice.
This is a full-bodied, medium to full strength cigar. I found the construction to be excellent. In terms of aging, I’m not sure where this cigar is heading, so its worth watching. For now, at this price and this quality – it’s easily worth a box split.
