Robusto: 5 x 52
SRP: $12.35
We recently assessed this cigar in detail on Cigar Coop.
While PDR Cigars’ Master Blender Abe Flores has been busy blending for many others, he continues to grow his own line. With the cigars under the A. Flores line, he focuses on small batch, limited production. With the Gran Reserva line, Flores builds a blend around Dominican Corojo.
The Gran Reserva starts out with pepper and cedar sweet spice. I also detected a nice secondary cinnamon flavor in the first half. In the second half, the flavor profile changed to a more earthy flavor. The sweet spice and pepper were replaced by more of an exotic spice. The flavors were medium to full-bodied and the cigar had medium to full strength. Construction was excellent as the cigar delivered an great burn and draw.
One thing that might surprise you is there is more in the way of flavor transitions as opposed to other PDR releases. I kind of wish the flavors of the first half stuck around for the second half, but still a pretty good smoke, and one worthy of a five pack.
