Wrapper: Nicaraguan Cuban-seed Corojo ’99
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Boheme No. 35: 6 x 54 (Box-Press)
We recently assessed a pre-release sample of this cigar on Cigar Coop.
This cigar is being released to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Tabacalera Tropical, the parent company of Casa Fernandez. In general, I’ve had a preference for Casa Fernandez’s maduro blends, but the Aniversario seems to hit on all cylinders here. It has a classic Nicaraguan puro profile of earth, coffee, pepper, and dried fruit. The retro-hale delivers a nice herbal spice hat complements the flavors on the tongue perfectly. There is excellent balance between the strength and body as both attributes are medium to full. The construction is excellent. The cigars I smoked required no maintenance to burn straight. The draw was stellar.
While it is a philosophy of mine not to assign a rating to a pre-release, this cigar has all of the makings of being box worthy.
