As we noted on Cigar Coop, Davidoff planned for the release of two 25th anniversary cigars in 2013. The first was a cigar to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary in North America. It was called the Davidoff of Geneva 25th Anniversary. Both Paul and I have smoked and discussed it on the show. The second cigar commemorates the company’s 25th anniversary of its Madison Avenue New York flagship store. This is called the Davidoff Madison Avenue 25 Years. The cigar is being released in one vitola – a 6 x 50 toro an features Davidoff’s trademark Yamasa region wrapper.
From my point of view, I liked what the Madison Avenue did over the Davidoff of Geneva 25th Anniversary. The cigar delivers a wonderful natural tobacco sweetness that has a touch of citrus and a touch of cherry. It also has the trademark Davidoff black pepper and hay notes throughout. The back nine performed much better than its Geneva counterpart. I found the flavors of the Madison Avenue to be medium to full – complemented by medium strength. Construction was excellent.
Right now this is worth a box split – even with the $20.00 price tag. This cigar has some potential to be box worthy. It is one of the better limited Davidoffs I have had.
