2006 marked the 30th anniversary of the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos line. This was a line created and blended by Carlos Fuente Sr. For this occasion, Carlos Fuente Jr. created the Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario cigar. For this cigar, he swapped out the Don Carlos’ Cameron wrapper with a Fuente Dominican Habano leaf. This was known as the Arturo Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario 2006 and was actually released in 2008. In 2012 the Arturo Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario 2007 was released and now this past year, the Arturo Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario 2008 made its way to the shelves.

The Don Carlos Edición de Aniversario 2008 starts with notes of toast, pepper, and natural tobacco. There is a slight herbal component in the background that is also more prominent on the retrohale. The herbal notes give this Dominican puro a nice edge. The toast diminishes and the herbal spice moves to the forefront. Toward the end the spice kicks up.

This is a medium to full strength, medium to full-bodied cigar. The construction was outstanding – delivering a solid burn and draw. This is a cigar that scores well, but factoring in price, this is probably one that I would look at a fiver for.
