This cigar was reviewed in-depth on Cigar Coop.
Back in February, Viaje President Andre Farkas was a guest on Episode 86 of Stogie Geeks and broke exclusive news that the company’s long awaited Viaje Trifecta project was finally coming. The Trifecta is a package of three Viaje blends, each in a 7 1/2 x 40 lancero format. Two of the blends are the well-known Viaje Platino and Viaje Oro blends. The third blend was an entirely new blend from the company being released for the first time known as the Viaje Plata. In addition to being a new blend, the Viaje Plata is significant because it marks the company’s first cigar being made in Miami, Florida (The Platino and Oro are still made in Honduras).
Farkas told us that the Plata bridges a gap with Platino and Oro, but he clarified with me that this is a milder offering compared to those other two lines. I concur with him on this as this was a medium strength, medium-bodied cigar. This cigar had notes of cocoa, natural tobacco, and baker’s spice. There is a nice sweetness to this cigar. In addition, I found the medium profile of this cigar to work perfect.
No aging required here, but I think in time this will even be better. No construction issues either – the burn and draw were flawless. Assuming if you could buy this as a box, I assessed the Plata as box worthy.
