This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.
Back in February, Viaje President Andre Farkas was a guest on Stogie Geeks and indicated he was working on a project where he would be collaborating with someone else in the industry. This project would turn out to be the Viaje Collaboration 2014. Farkas didn’t look far for whom he would team up with on this as he turned to Casa Fernandez for whom he has leveraged their production facilities and tobacco for his line. The Collaboration and the Viaje Cache are the first two cigars being produced at the TABSA factory in Nicaragua. For this cigars, Farkas let Casa Fernandez take the total reins of this one.
The Viaje Collabroation delivers notes of natural tobacco, black pepper, chocolate, lemon sweetness, and earth. The notes making up this flavor profile due vary quite a bit – although the last third was more earthy and peppery. The flavors start out medium to full-bodied and become full-bodied later in the second half. The strength starts out medium and does slowly increase to medium to full by the last third. The construction is excellent on this cigar. I’ve noticed the factory changes Farkas has made with his cigar (including Viaje Plata) seem to be having a positive effect.
This is a good cigar. Not my favorite Viaje or Casa Fernandez, but still a solid cigar and worth a fiver.
