The 1502 Nicaragua will be the fourth blend in Enrique Sanchez Icasa’s 1502 line. 1502 is the flagship brand of Global Premium Cigars. The company is distributed through House of Emilio and over the past twelve months has built a very strong following as its 1502 Emerald, 1502 Ruby, and 1502 Black Gold have become popular among cigar enthusiasts. While Nicaraguan tobacco has always been a key part of his blends, the 1502 Nicaragua will be his first Nicaraguan puro. The cigar was meant to be a tribute to Sanchez’s newborn son. It will incorporate tobaccos from the four main growing regions of Nicaragua: Esteli, Jalapa, Condega, and Ometepe.
I picked up notes of wood, cedar, floral, and nut. At times there was a slight sourness to the flavors. I didn’t find this to be a cigar that had a lot of sweetness, but it still produced some nice flavors. This is a classic “medium strength / medium-bodied” smoke.
I thought it was a nice smoke. I think a little more age may settle some of the sour notes, but this should still be a nice release for 1502.
