Casa Cuba is a new line by Arturo Fuente that made its debut at the end of 2013. It had originally been targeted to be a part of the company’s 100th anniversary in 2012. However, in June, 2012 it was announced that plans for the 100th anniversary were being put on hold due to “personal and professional challenges”. It was widely believed that this was tied to the challenges of a fire that destroyed two Fuente warehouses in late 2011.
This cigar is going have notes of natural tobacco, herbal notes, and what I term a “tangy spice”. This spice almost has a smoky bbq sauce quality to it. I’ve found I first this cigar, it still needed a little age and the tanginess was overwhelming. However, a little time has settled this nicely.
This is a cigar starts out medium strength and progresses to medium to full strength in the second half. The notes are medium to full-bodied to start and progress to full-bodied.
Overall, while not a home run it’s worth a Fiver – definitely worth checking out.
