La Flor Dominicana’s TCKFA M Collector’s Edition 2014 is the latest installment in La Flor Dominican’s TCKFA M line. TCKFA M stands for the “The Cigar Formerly Known as Mysterio / Mysterioso”. In 2014, both the Mysterio / Mysterioso lines were rebranded to this name due to trademark issues. The Collector’s 2014 is the follow-up to the Collector’s Edition 2013. The Collector’s Edition 2014 is the same sized 7 x 55 barber-pole perfecto with one major difference – the Connecticut Broadleaf and Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrappers are inverted.
I found this to be a milder LFD in terms of strength and body. This wasn’t to be unexpected given this is a Connecticut Shade leaf as the primary wrapper. In fact, this was a mild to medium cigar in terms of strength and body to start and doesn’t hit medium until the 1/3 point. The flavors have notes of coffee and cream (no surprise) as well as some grassy, herbal notes. The grass herbal spice is definitely prominent on the retro-hale.
The burn did require some TLC. It wasn’t a problemsome burn, but just one that needed some attention.
Overall I liked this cigar. It’s a high price point, but it is something different. I rank this as a box split (but considering the boxes are 5 count, I will normalize this to 10 to 12 count box).
