Back in February, we broke news on a project by Room 101 Cigars called the Master Collection. The plan was to make a premium offering in the Room 101 line with some unique packaging. The plan was to launch two cycles of the Master Collection – Master Collection One and Master Collection Two. When we had Matt Booth on Episode 72 of Stogie Geeks he mentioned “infinity” (in jest) as to how many Master Collections.
It is worth noting the wrapper is San Andres – which was not on the prototypes received back in February.
The Room 101 Master Collection One delivers notes of cocoa, earth, pepper, and cherry sweetness. I didn’t find a lot of major flavor shifts. The cherry sweetness surfaces more in the forefront from time to time – and the pepper kicks up at the end. This cigar is going to produce medium-bodied notes countered by medium strength. Overall a well constructed cigar in terms of burn and draw.
This might be one of the more classic tasting Room 101 Cigars. I particularly like how the San Andres wrapper does not overwhelm here. Overall its worth a five pack. I am curious to see how the other sizes smoke as I see potential with this blend.
