Back in late August we did a feature story on Cigar Coop on a company called Brun del Ré. This is a Costa Rican cigar company that has a presence in Europe, but is looking to grow their U.S. operations. The Brun del Ré Premium is a milder offering described a “morning smoke.
From a strength standpoint, the cigar is definitely mild. The flavors start out mild as well, but do progress to mild to medium. This cigar delivered a lot in terms of complexity and labor nuances. I picked up notes of wood, cream, citrus, pepper, and herbal spice. For a mild cigar, this still gave me a nice retro-hale in terms of citrus and herbal spice. The cigar performed flawlessly in terms of its burn as it categorized it “set it and forget it”. The draw was outstanding as well.
I also was real surprised at how the longer Churchill performed here. This cigar was a nice surprise and its a great starter cigar to give to someone – or to someone who just wants something on the milder side. It is definitely worth a fiver.
