The Tatuaje Avion 13 Reserva was a cigar that was launched at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show. The Avion series is a series of annual limited edition vitolas that originally used the Tatuaje Fausto blend. These releases have been different sized box-pressed perfectos. During production of the Avion 13, Tatuaje owner Pete Johnson made a decision to change the usual Habano Ecuador wrapper to a Connecticut Broadleaf. At the time there was already some production that was done on the Habano Ecuador version. Johnson made a decision to package up the Habano version as a limited release called Tatuaje Avion 13 FF. The new Broadleaf wrapper release would become the Avion 13 Reserva.

The Avion 13 Reserva delivers a classic profile of mocha, pepper, earth, and cream notes. The flavors were medium to full-bodied as well as the strength level. The burn and draw were both excellent.

To me, it seemed liked Pete Johnson struck gold with the Tatuaje Avion 13 FF. The Reserva is an enjoyable smoke. There was just something missing from the Reserva to make it a special smoke. It’s certainly one I would smoke again, and its still worthy of a five pack.
