Wrapper: San Andres Maduro
Binder: Aganorsa Leaf, Nicaragua
Filler: Aganorsa Leaf, Nicaragua
Five Fifty Two: 5 x 52
Price: ~$11.00
This was one of the cigars showcased by Andre Farkas at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show. This is a new maduro blend that is being made a that TABSA factory in Nicaragua. It is one of two blends that have become the first cigars for Viaje made in Nicaragua. This cigar is a tribute to the aging rooms (called the Cache) in Nicaragua where Viaje ages tobacco.
At the bottom of the box is a secret compartment that reveals 5 box-pressed cigars.
I smoked this cigar with Farkas who told me this is a very different maduro than this was done. This was a little more dialed back and has more of an earthy profile as opposed to the rich cocoa and chocolate notes. However, this was excellent. There was a nice balance and just the right amount of spice.
This probably is more of a niche cigar, but it really was one of the better cigars I had at the trade show. This is worth a box of them.
