Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano / San Andres Mexican (Barber-pole)
Binder: Criollo
Filler: Four Regions (Honduras, Dominican Republic, USA) -featuring Criollo, Corojo, Cubita, Pennsylvania
Figuardo: 6 x 42 x 54
Price: $25.00 (pair), $12.50 (Single)
This is a new limited edition launched by Camacho at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas. The cigar is called”DoubleShock” for a couple of reasons: First up, the release is being done using a barber-pole styled wrapper. This seems to satisfy an appetite of Camacho fans for a return of a barber-pole cigar. This style had been featured on the Camacho Liberty series, but had not been seem since the Liberty 2008 series. Secondly, the cigars are packaged together in pairs.
This is a pretty good cigar. It delivers notes of coffee, pepper, citrus, and grass. There is a slight astringent taste to the citrus notes and I think with age that will wear off. The pepper never becomes overpowering The strength and body were medium to full. I was surprised how well this performed in the Figuardo.
A little pricey – especially since many retailers are selling in twos. Supply and demand may dictate how many retailers separate the two. I still enjoyed this cigar and its worth a two or three two-packs – i.e. it averages to a Fiver.
