Wrapper: Ecuador Habano (8th priming)
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Size: 6 x 50 (Box Press)
Price: $10.00
This cigar was assessed in depth on Cigar Coop.
Crowned Heads Hecho Con Corazon is a box press version of the Las Calaveras Edicion Limitada 2014. It was released in one size for the Hickory Cigar Club in North Carolina with the remaining cigars going to Tinder Box of the Carolinas in Charlotte.
This cigar had excellent construction and nice complexity. However that does not translate to outstanding flavor. While the flavors were good, they lacked a “wow” factor that I would expect from a limited edition cigar. I picked up notes of leather, cocoa, cedar, pepper, and citrus. The cigar very much had a Nicaraguan “twang”. However to quote Stogie Santa, “this cigar could not make up its mind what it wanted to do”.
I found this to be a medium strength cigar. The flavors were medium-bodied progressing to medium to full later in the smoke. Overall, I would say if you are a Crowned Heads fan – and in particular a Las Calaveras fan, this would be a cigar you would want to check out while supplies are still out there. In my book, its a “try one”.
