Wrapper: San Andres Mexican
ffortissimo: 5 3/4 x 47
The M20 is the second cigar in the ffortissimo line to be released. It was at the 2013 IPCPR when the first ffortissimo, the Aging Room M21 ffortissimo made its debut. The M20 differs from the M21 in that it is a San Andres maduro blend as opposed to the all Dominican M21. However there have been two distinguishing characteristics of the ffortissimo line. First up, ffortissimo represents some of the more powerful cigars to be released by Boutique Blends Cigars. Secondly, the ffortissimo is one of the more limited lines in the already small batch focused Boutique Blends portfolio with only 2,000 boxes produced.
I found this cigar to deliver notes of cocoa, earth, black pepper, and a slight bit of cherry. This wasn’t a cigar that was overly complex, but it was one that delivered plenty of flavor. The best part is this was a Mexican wrapper that played well with the blend.
The cigar lived up to the name ffortissimo. It starts out medium to full in strength and body and by the second half its operating at full. The construction of this cigar impressed me as it had a terrific burn and draw.
Boutique Blends has gotten a little more pricier with their offerings, but they are delivering excellent products. The class of 2014 is definitely their best to date. This cigar is easily worth a box split.
