Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano-seed
Binder: Dominican Piloto
Filler: Dominican Olor, Dominican Piloto
Gran Bully: 6 x 60
Price: $12.00 (approximately)
This was a cigar showcased at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show by Altadis. It is a 6 x 60 limited edition line extension to the Romeo line. According to Altadis, the blend has been slightly amp’d up.
There were a lot of parallels to the core line Romeo. I got notes of natural tobacco, cedar spice, and black pepper. I also detected a cinnamon powder note in the background. The second third of this cigar has a nice cherry cream sweetness that I really loved. The Romeo Special Edition was doing awesome until the back nine where it just seemed to run out of gas and get harsh. The burn did require much TLC to keep it even, but I loved the draw on this big ring gauge.
This will probably keep many big ring gauge enthusiasts happy. The “back nine” hurt this cigar in the end as it, but I still encourage one to “Try One”.
